NEABSCO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - DAILY ARRIVAL and DISMISSAL PROCEDURES 

ARRIVAL 

DROP OFF/BREAKFAST

  • Student drop off begins no earlier than 8:35 a.m. for students that eat breakfast at school.
  • Students who come through Kiss and Ride and plan to eat breakfast will enter through Doors 7 and 8.
  • Students who walk and plan to eat breakfast at school should line up in front of the building in the breakfast line which is closest to the main office.
  • All other students should arrive no earlier than 8:50 am. to line up in front of the building.There will be one line for kindergarten and grade 1 students next to the breakfast line and then two lines for all other grades.
  • For students that arrive between 8:35 a.m to 8:50 a.m., they will receive a “grab and go” breakfast and eat it in the cafeteria up until 9:00 a.m. to maximize instructional time.Students entering school after 8:50 a.m will receive a “grab and go” breakfast and eat it in their classroom for the same reason.

BUS and VAN ARRIVALS

  • Buses will be entering the school grounds through the Bus Loop Entrance and proceeding to the front of the building. Students will exit the buses and enter using the Main Doors.
  • Buses will exit using the same entrance.
  • The Bus Loop is only for buses and vans.

PRIVATE AUTOMOBILE/ACTIVE DROP-OFF

  • Cars will enter the property via the Main Parking Lot Entrance and the Kiss and Ride Loop to the left of the building and proceed around the marked Kiss and Ride Loop.
  • Once on the property, speed should not exceed 5 MPH.
  • Under no circumstances should your child get out of your vehicle anywhere along the roadway other than the designated loading/unloading zone.  The curb and driveway are painted to reflect the designated drop-off zone.  This procedure is for student safety.
  • As you come around the loop you will be directed by staff to the drop-off zone, please pull up to the cones at the dumpsters.
  • Again, for the safety of everyone, please do not let students out of your car until you are instructed to do so.
  • As you exit the property, follow the loop road back out to Cordell Avenue.
  • For the safety of everyone please follow any and all instructions given by the staff on duty.

WALKERS

  • Students walking to school should walk to the crossing guard and cross at the crosswalk.  Students will then proceed to the front of the building and enter the school no earlier than 8:35 AM. Supervisory staff will monitor students along the sidewalk and up to the front of the building.
  • Students coming from the neighborhoods behind the school must go around to the front of the school building as there is no adult supervision in the back of the building. 
  • All students will enter the building through the Main Entrance in the front.

 

LATE ARRIVAL PROCEDURE

  • After 9:00, parents should still use the Kiss and Ride Loop and designated drop-off zone for students.  If parents need to walk their child into the building after 9:00, the parent should park the car in a designated parking space in the parking lot and walk their child to the front door.

 

TARDY

  • Any child arriving after the 9:00 a.m. bell is tardy. The child should report to the main office to get a tardy slip

    EARLY PICKUP – Parents / guardians picking up a student prior to 3:15 p.m. must park in a designated parking space in the parking lot.  Parking is not permitted in the bus lane or along the yellow curbs marked fire lanes.  

     

    Parents/ Guardians must show I.D. and must sign out their student(s) in the Main Office. Office staff will contact the teacher to dismiss the student to the Main Office. For the security of our students please send a notification in writing via note or fax indicating that the student will be picked up early and note the person and time of pick up before 3:15 p.m.  In an effort to maintain an appropriate closure to the instructional day, early dismissal of students between 3:15 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. will not be permitted. Children will be released to authorized names only.

     

    DISMISSAL ROUTINE CHANGE

  • In order to change a student’s regular daily dismissal routine, (i.e. riding the bus, a different person picking the student up), a parent/guardian must send in a written notification via note or fax to the Main Office as early as possible. Do not email changes as emails might not be received or read prior to dismissal.Office personnel will verify student information and will distribute copies to the Dismissal Team.

 

GENERAL PROCEDURE

  • Students will return to homeroom by 3:30 p.m. Announcements will begin at 3:35 p.m.
  • Beginning at 3:40 PM, students are dismissed.
  • Van Riders will be called down first.
  • AlphaBEST students will be called down to the cafeteria next.
  • Car riders will be called next and report to Room 201, then walk to the Loading Zone with staff.
  • Walkers will be called next and students will exit from the first floor and out of Door #16 near the playground and basketball courts.  Families may meet their children at these doors.
  • Bus dismissal will follow.

 

BUS DISMISSAL

  • Students will report directly to their buses once their bus number has been called.  It is imperative to listen to dismissal announcements to hear bus numbers being called.
  • For the later arriving buses, students will be called down to the front lobby or to a designated location to wait for their bus prior to dismissal.

 

PROCEDURES FOR PRIVATE AUTOMOBILE PICK UP

  • Cars will enter the property via the Kiss and Ride Loop Entrance and stay to the right, going around the parking lot.
  • Once on the property, speed should not exceed 5 MPH.  If you arrive early enough, a staff member will come to each car to gather the number of the car picking up which matches your child’s designated number.  This allows us to have the children ready for you when you pull up.
  • As you come around the Loop you will be directed to the loading zone, located at the dumpsters.
  • Unless you are in the loading zone, please do not call for your child to come to your vehicle.
  • Once your child is safely in your vehicle, please remain stopped until the staff member gives you permission to proceed to exit.
  • As you exit the property, follow the road back out to Cordell Avenue.
  • For the safety of everyone please follow any and all instructions given by the staff on duty.

 

These procedures will work if everyone is cooperative and patient. The safety of Neabsco students is our first priority.
