What can you do at House iconhome while school is closed?

Below are some ideas for continued practice while we are out of the building.

Reading iconReading: Read to your child, have your child read to you, retell stories that are read, identify text features in non fiction (remember there are things to read all around us, not just in books), practice sight words (High Frequency Words Booklet), log onto Lexia or MyOn through Clever.

Writing iconWriting: Create a journal of activities that you do over break, write a non fiction book to teach about something you know, create a make believe story, write to convince someone why something is best.

Don’t forget to add details and to make sure sentences begin with a capital letter and end with a period!

Math iconMath: Practice counting to 120 by 1s, 5s, and 10s, create and solve real life story problems using UPSC, practice math facts, play card games and add numbers together, log onto ST Math through Clever.

About Mrs. Nicholson:
This is my 7th year teaching First Grade at Neabsco. I am so excited to learn and grow with my students this year! I graduated from the University of Mary Washington with a Masters of Science in Elementary Education. Outside of school I enjoy reading and being outside as much as possible. I also love to spend time with family and friends!

Welcome to Mrs. Nicholson's first grade class! I am so excited to work with all of my students this year and guide them to grow in all subjects. We will be especially focused on strengthening our foundation of skills in reading and math.

I enjoy working with your students every day and guiding them and encouraging them to reach their full potential! We are in for a fun year of learning and growing together!
