Brooke had blonde hair and is in Virginia Tech graduation attire.

About the teacher: My name is Brooke Souders and this is my first year teaching! In May, I graduated with my Masters degree in elementary education from Virginia Tech, go hokies! All of my students know that I am a huge Virginia Tech fan and I am always cheering for my Alma Mater. This year, I am looking forward to building relationships with my students and helping them exceed in all areas of their lives.  I am also one of the teachers doing running club!

ESOL: We have three wonderful ESOL teachers who support our class, Mrs. Cofsky, Mrs. Wang, and Mrs. Ramirez.

Remainder of the school year:
Virtual Learning: Beginning April 20th, we will begin to implement virtual learning. Each day, there are high technology, low technology, and no technology options. All work is optional.

  • High Technology: Our class will meet daily on Zoom from 11:40-12:40 for the daily learning. The code to join will be posted on Seesaw. If your student cannot attend, I will record a similar lesson and post it on Seesaw.
  • Low Technology: Choice boards will be available on Seesaw daily for students to access.
  • No Technology: At the bottom of the page you will find a calendar that has a daily choice board. Each subject has options of work that could be completed without technology. All work is optional but highly recommended.

Virtual Office Hours: I have scheduled my virtual office hours every Friday from 11:00-12:00. During this time, I will be able to Zoom, or talk on the phone to help with anything. Please contact me via email or Seesaw to let me know how you want to communicate. I am also available daily, please contact me if you need help and I can provide you with my availability.

Personal Learning Project: Students can read their choice of an independent reading book. Once they have completed the reading, they can create a Venn Diagram of two of the characters, listing their similarities and differences. They can also create a story map, highlighting the sequence of events within the story.

Encore Teachers will be posting information about how to do their lessons on their webpages! They have even posted personal learning projects you can take part in! PE, Music, LibraryArt, Counseling
