Virtual LearningBeginning April 20th, our class will meet daily on Zoom from 11:40-12:40 for the daily learning. The code to join will be posted on dojo . If your student cannot attend, I will record a similar lesson and post it on dojo.

Tuesdays : Social Studies-

Wednesdays: Mathematics-

Thursdays: Science-

Fridays- Office Hours-Fridays @ 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Reminders

  • Parental consent is required for each child to participate in these sessions.

    Kindly indicate consent through class dojo or an email.

  • Zoom and recorded lessons will be the teaching platform to be used. Lesson will be posted on my web page.

I am also asking that the following descriptions be used during these meetings:

  • Students should be in a quiet area during these sessions.
  • Only students from  my class can participate during discussion.
  • Proper attire is required during these sessions.
  • Provide some guidance if possible for the first week until your child is familiar with the platform used.
  • To be prepared students should have pencils, notebook and eraser.
  • My virtual office hours every Friday from 11:00-12:00. During this time, I will be able to Zoom,class dojo or talk on the phone to help with anything.

Technology:At the bottom of the page you will please see the instructional calendar of activities that students can use at home. This will help to maintain school structure and keep the students engaged. In this challenging time take care of each other.Each subject has options of work that could be completed with or without technology. We miss you all!! Please bear in mind that all these activities are OPTIONAL but HIGHLY ENCOURAGED!
Personal Learning Project

Students can read their choice of an independent reading book. Once they have completed the reading, they can create a Venn Diagram of two of the characters, listing their similarities and differences. They can also create a story map, highlighting the sequence of events within the story. More information about this personal learning project can be found here.

1clever: Students can use our school home page to log into reading sites such as MyOn, Benchmark and Lexia, as well as our math sites ST Math ! They can also access Brain Pop through clever! There is also a daily math WIXIE challenge available on WIXIE to keep students challenged!

2) Scholastic: This website will give students access to books, videos, magazines and more!

4) News Ela: Newsela is offering FREE access to theiarticles through this!

Information to log in to clever is located in the hyperlink above:

  • Students should log on to Lexia three (3) times weekly for 20 minutes.
  • Student should log on to ST Math two (2) times weekly for 20 minutes.
  • Students should log on to MyOn each day for 20 minutes.
  • Independent Reading should be done daily for 20 minutes.

A school mental health professional will answer and offer virtual support to students/families to the best of their ability. Please note that this email is not to be used for emergency situations and it will not be monitored 24 hours a day. If a student is ever in an emergency situation he/she is encouraged to call 911.
