Dismissal

ATTENDANCE AND CHANGES IN DISMISSAL

Your child's education is very important to us at Neabsco. Please be mindful of late arrivals and early departures during the school day.  Students should be attending school on time every day.

9:10 am – Students can enter the building.
9:20 am - School bell rings and the school day begins.

If your child will be absent or late to school, please email the office mailbox at  [email protected] by 10 AM or call the school to speak to someone in the office at 703-670-2147 in order to avoid an email/call about your child's absence.
If your child has a doctor’s appointment, please schedule it early in the day or late.  If you cannot avoid a midday appointment, bring the child back to school.  Attending school is a requirement and an expectation for all students.

When emailing, messaging, or calling, please include:

  • Child's full name, teacher, reason for absence or delayed arrival to school.  Leave your full name and contact number.  You can call the school's phone number at 703-670-2147.
  • You can also email the School Attendance Secretary directly, Ms. Evelina Dias at [email protected] to report student attendance or the School Registrar, Ms. Jessica Alfaro (Spanish) [email protected]
  • The day of the absence or before the absence, families can put the absence in Parent Vue

If you need to pick up your child for any reason before dismissal time of 4:00pm, you should email or call the office, message teachers using School Status and arrive at school no later than 3:00 PM.  Requests for dismissal after 3pm will not be allowed.  It is important for the safety and security of the students that we have any additional picks up to interrupt the dismissal process.

  • Changes in dismissal for the end of the school day must be made by 3:00 PM, no expectations.

Absences

Student absences that will not be excused

  • We have had a lot of requests to the principal and office that students are leaving the country for trips, visits, and other reasons.  Unless there is a death in the family, out-of-country trips will not be excused.
  • Students missing weeks of school count against our school accreditation data.  Students that have missed 15 days will be unenrolled and upon return to the US, families must reregister students for school.  You can email the principal at [email protected], but please know that only extenuating circumstances will be approved.
  • If you keep your child home because another sibling or family member in the household is sick, this is also not excused.  Students should be attending school each day, no exceptions.

Student absences that will be excused with the appropriate documentation -

  • If a student is sick, please take them to the doctor and provide the school with a doctor’s note.
  • If you need to take them to an appointment, please make the appointment first or at the end of the day to minimize missing too much school. Please bring the office a note to excuse the absence.
  • Family
  • If you are unsure whether you should bring your child to school, please call and speak with the school nurse so she can advise on what to do to support your child’s symptoms.
